iTV
Lorsque Apple a fait l'annonce du iTV la semaine dernière, nom de code pour le moment, quelque chose m'a immédiatement frappé. Cet appareil aura un port USB. Ok pour le Ethernet, je peux comprendre la connectivité (quoique il sera équipé du sans fils WiFi), mais pour le port USB, je m'explique mal cet ajout.
Synchroniser un iPod ? Ça pourrait, mais sous la télé, ça ne ferait pas grand sens. Un clavier ? Mouin.. pas vraiment non plus, Apple utilisera certeinament le Bluetooth pour ça. Peut-être une caméra pour faire du chat directement dans le salon, sur le grand écran. Ça oui! Ou bien une façon d'interfacer les appareils de câblo-distribution (genre Scientific Atlanta connu sous Illico chez Vidéotron) ? Hmmm.. peut-être, ça ferait du sens de pouvoir enregistrer le contenu du décodeur.
Chose certaine, le port USB n'est pas présent pour le plaisir, chaque composante coûtant de l'argent, Apple se doit d'avoir une bonne raison pour l'avoir ajouté.

When Apple announced the iTV last week, code name for now, something struck my mind. This hardware will sport a USB port at the back. I'm fine with the Ethernet port, for obvious connectivity reasons, though it will be equiped with WiFi), but a USB port, I don't quite get it.
Sync an iPod? Maybe, but think of it, who would like to crawl under the TV just to sync an iPod? It doesn't make sense. A keyboard? No, I don't think so either. They would probably use Bluetooth for that. A camera to have the ability to chat right in the big screen? This would make sense! Or a way to interface with cable descrambler, such as Scientific Atlanta (know as Illico here in Quebec)? Hmmm.. this, maybe, it would certainly make sense to record TV right out of the decoder.
One this is for sure, the USB port is there for a reason. Eeach component is worth money and I don't think Apple would have put it there for no reason.
